Expectations
An AVID student must:
An AVID student must not:
- Possess the desire and potential to succeed in rigorous courses
- Be committed to hard work to attain goals
- Exhibit a positive attitude toward themselves and others
- Be open to new experiences in all phases of the program
- Wants to become an independent learner
- Act as model students in the classroom, taking notes, listening, questioning and being prepared
- Willingly cooperate and collaborate with peers as a part of a team
- Understand that students and teachers are a team
- Share work for the purpose of improving it (no sharing answers but ideas)
- Keep parents informed of academic progress
- Expect and anticipate college enrollment after graduation
- Become actively involved in a variety of campus activities
- Complete community service hours
- Maintain at least a 3.0 weighted GPA
- Be committed to a minimum of 90 minutes of homework/studying each night (including weekends)
An AVID student must not:
- Have incomplete assignments in their classes
- Discipline referrals
- Poor attitude
- Poor attendance
- Weighted GPA lower than 3.0
